Department of Vascular Neurology

The Department of Vascular Neurology is the strength of the neurology center, with three wards and more than one hundred beds in preparation. There are 46 doctors in the department, among whom 11 are chief physicians, 19 are deputy chief physicians, 4 are doctoral supervisors, and 8 are master's supervisors. Under the leadership of Professor Yongjun Wang, the leading figure of the department, the department has gradually developed into a national key discipline and clinical key specialty and become the first batch of excellent innovation teams of the Ministry of Science and Technology. Meanwhile, relying on the National Clinical Medical Research Center for Neurological Diseases and the Medical Quality Control Center, the department has become a national clinical treatment and research platform for cerebrovascular diseases integrating "medicine, teaching, research, and prevention."

After nearly two decades of development, the department has formed distinctive disciplinary characteristics. The department has adopted the international advanced comprehensive stroke center treatment model, taken the lead in China to explore the establishment of green treatment channels for acute cerebrovascular diseases, and set up the first stroke unit and cerebrovascular disease specialist clinic in China, including Professor Yongjun Wang's team cerebrovascular disease clinic, cerebrovascular disease secondary prevention clinic, high-risk non-disabling cerebrovascular disease clinic, cerebrovascular disease screening clinic, hereditary cerebrovascular clinic, vascular cognitive dysfunction, vertigo, headache, etc., There are seven cerebrovascular disease clinics and special need specialist clinics, including vertigo and headache. At the same time, in the special needs consultation center, the department also set up multidisciplinary joint consultation clinics, such as the vertigo consultation clinic with ENT and orthopedic specialists, the young stroke and complicated cerebrovascular disease consultation clinic with cardiology and imaging specialists, the cerebrovascular disease joint consultation clinic with neurosurgery and neuro intervention, and the cerebral venous thrombosis consultation clinic with neuro intervention specialists. The outpatient clinic realized the "linkage of various departments and specialized treatment," which greatly facilitated the medical needs of patients and provided the best medical service for each patient with cerebrovascular disease.

At the same time, as a critical discipline of a research hospital, the department focuses on clinical-oriented, translational medical research on cerebrovascular diseases, actively exploring innovative treatment methods and achieving fruitful results. In recent years, the department has published evidence-based and precise treatment protocols for ischemic cerebrovascular diseases, edited several international guidelines and clinical practices for cerebrovascular diseases, and undertaken long-term clinical and basic research on cerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, cerebral small vessel disease, and intracranial venous thrombosis, leading the development of cerebrovascular disease-related disciplines domestically and internationally.

In recent years, our department has taken the lead in formulating national medical quality control standards for cerebrovascular diseases, treatment guidelines, and consensus of industry associations, and has undertaken more than 40 major research projects at national and provincial levels, with a total research expenditure of nearly 200 million yuan. It has also won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award and many provincial and ministerial research achievements awards.

With clinical responsibility and innovation as the driving force, the Department of Vascular Neurology strives to make more significant contributions to preventing and controlling cerebrovascular diseases in China by exploring and forging hope.
