Comprehensive surgical center

The comprehensive surgical center consists of departments of General Surgery, Urology, Breast Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery and Plastic and cosmetic Surgery. The center has more than 200 beds and perform nearly 10000 procedures each year. The annual outpatient visits and the emergency visits were about 180,000 and 40,000. Since the hospital moved to south area of Beijing in 2018, as a regional medical center, the Department of Surgery is committed to providing qualified medical services.

The medical services of each surgical departments are comprehensive and have outstanding professional characteristics. The spinal operations, neuro-urology operations, minimally invasive operations of hepatobiliary diseases, pancreatic diseases and thyroid tumors, sequential treatment of hepatobiliary and pancreatic malignant tumors, weight loss surgery, breast cancer reconstructive operations, lung cancer and esophageal cancer radical operations are in high reputation both in China and abroad. In the past ten years, the center has undertaken medical missions of Beijing's aid to Africa and Trinidad and Tobago, performed lots of operations in local environment, which improved the international impact.

At present, the center has 1 post-doctoral supervisor, 5 doctoral supervisors, 6 master supervisors, set up orthopedic post-doctoral station. The center has 48 surgeons with senior professional titles, more than 10 master and doctoral students were trained each year. The center has undertaken several scientific research projects, such as the National key research and development Program, the "863" program, National Natural Science Foundation, Beijing Natural Science Foundation, Beijing 12th and 13th Five-Year key projects and the capital health development special projects. The cervical spine research achievements won the second prize of Beijing Medical Science and Technology Progress Award in 2016, the third prize of Huaxia Medical Science and Technology Award in 2020 and the second prize of Science and Technology Award of Capital Medical University in 2021. 

The Department of Orthopaedics is the first spine specialist Fellowship training center in China by IGASS, training base of the National Health Commission's Capacity Building and Continuing Education Center, the member unit of the "Science Popularization Construction Project" of National Orthopaedic and Sports Rehabilitation Clinical Medical Research Center, the clinical key specialty of Fengtai District of Beijing, and the first batch of well-known experts of Beijing Municipal Hospital Authority. General Surgery is the chairman department of the National Cancer Strategic Alliance. Urology is the Neuro-urology and Andrology Research Center of the National Clinical Medical Research Center for Nervous System Diseases, Green Laser Training Center of Capital Medical University, Rapid Rehabilitation Center of Beijing Tiantan Hospital and the "Belt and Road" Uroscopy Training Center of the National Health Commission. Breast Surgery was approved as the National pilot unit for standardized diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.

The center has established close cooperation with well-known medical centers both in China and abroad. The Department of Orthopedics established Tiantan International Spine Forum (TISF) academic brand, and continuously held national training courses on spinal operation. The Department of General Surgery held the "New Temple of Heaven, New General Surgery 2019 International General Surgery, Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery Seminar". Breast surgery Department has national education program "Psychological Intervention Training Course of malignant tumor", and has established a rehabilitation group "Rukang Salon" for breast cancer patients, which regularly performed activities for physical and mental recovery.

The center undertakes theoretical and practical teaching programs of undergraduate students majoring in clinical medicine, Stomatology, clinical pharmacy, Laboratory medicine and International School of Capital Medical University, as well as training programs of advanced doctors, residents, and staffs in the hospital. The center took charge of dozens of teaching projects of Capital Medical University. Since 2006, the center was certified as the standardized training base for resident doctors in Beijing, with a total of 140 resident doctors and more than 1,000 graduate students have been trained. In 2018, General Surgery became a pilot department of raining base for specialists in Beijing. In recent years, the center has won many teaching awards such as the Excellent Teaching Award of Capital Medical University, the director of the Advanced Teaching and Research Department of Beijing Tiantan Hospital, and the excellent Teacher of Beijing Tiantan Hospital.
