The blood transfusion department undertakes the blood transfusion treatment, and applied therapeutic apheresis in 1999. Under the leadership of Dr. Zhang Yanan, we applied international blood transfusion management concepts and technologies to carry out precision transfusion management. Blood viscoelasticity detection was performed in 2016, outpatient service opened in 2018, and cell quality release platform for stem cell clinical research established in 2018 to undertake the research of cell therapy products release for stem cells and somatic cells.

The blood transfusion department mainly use allogeneic blood to support safe surgery and blood treatment. These include ABO subgroups consultation, blood transfusion treatment, preoperative blood donation, effective perioperative hemostasis management of coagulation dysfunction (taking antiplatelet drugs, coagulation disorders, etc.), therapeutic apheresis (therapeutic erythrocytapheresis for polycythemia, plateletpheresis for thrombocytosis, etc.), therapeutic plasma exchange for removal of pathogenic substances (neurological diseases such as Guillain-Barré syndrome and myasthenia gravis; ophthalmic diseases such as neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders; hematological diseases such as idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, multiple myeloma, Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia; rheumatologic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus; gastrointestinal diseases such as fulminant hepatitis, and drug poisoning), bleeding and thrombosis monitoring, guidance on the use of blood products, bloodletting therapy and patient blood management.
