The Neurointensive Care Unit, Neurology Center, Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University is one of the main sub-specialties of the national key discipline, the Center of Neurology, Beijing Tiantan Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University. The unit features the monitoring and management of acute and severe neurological diseases, and its work focuses on revascularization treatment of acute and severe ischemic stroke, monitoring and complication treatment of subarachnoid hemorrhage, minimally invasive surgery for severe cerebral hemorrhage and acute stage treatment, rescue treatment of critically ill pregnant women with combined central nervous system diseases, as well as the treatment of neurological diseases such as severe Guillain-Barré Syndrome, myasthenia gravis, intracranial infection, persistent epilepsy, etc. The medical equipment, technology and treatment effects are at the domestic leading level.
The unit has integrated relevant multidisciplinary technologies and jointly established intravenous thrombolytic therapy for acute ischemic cerebrovascular disease, endovascular treatment for intracranial and extracranial stenosis or occlusion of large vessels, surgical and interventional treatment for aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, the green channel for the treatment of critically ill pregnant women with combined central nervous system diseases, combined neurosurgical treatment for massive cerebral infarction, etc. The team has greatly improved the clinical treatment path for severe cerebrovascular disease, the quality of medical management and the prognosis of patients. The unit has an independent multi-modal neurological function assessment laboratory, which can monitor cerebral hemodynamics, electrophysiology, brain metabolism and intracranial pressure to provide a comprehensive and systematic assessment for formulating reasonable treatment plans. Meanwhile, a solid professional nursing team ensures the quality of care and treatment effects.
The unit is currently carrying out more than 20 scientific research projects at the national, provincial and ministerial levels, with a total research funding of more than 30 million yuan, and has published a number of scientific achievements and clinical papers.
The "Neurocritical Care Training Course" held by the unit has become a national platform for advanced study of doctors in the field of neurocritical care. It conducts comprehensive clinical and scientific research special training, provides options for international exchange and learning, and has trained and delivered hundreds of high-quality professionals to the grassroots, which has well received widespread praise from peers nationwide.
Liping Liu, chief physician, professor, and doctoral supervisor, is a leader in cerebrovascular emergency and neurocritical care management. She is a member of the Critical Care Cerebrovascular Disease Branch of the Chinese Stroke Association, an expert committee member of the American Neurocritical Society (NCS), the World Stroke Organization (WSO), and the European Stroke Organization (ESO), a member of the Neurocritical Care Collaborative Group of the Chinese Society of Neurology, and a member of the Neurocritical Care Committee of the Neurologist Branch of the Chinese Medical Association. She serves as an editorial board member of international journals such as Stroke, JNNP, Neuroepidemiology, and SVN. She leads many scientific research projects for the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Ministry of Education, and the Beijing Science and Technology Commission.
