The Department of Nephrology

　　The Department of Nephrology of Beijing Tiantan Hospital is a professional nephrology department that is gradually developing and growing. It is a member unit of the Department of Nephrology of Capital Medical University and a master's awarding point of the direction of nephrology in internal medicine of Capital Medical University. The department has 30 beds in wards and 80 beds in the blood purification center. There are 13 doctors and 46 nurses in the department, including 1 professor, 4 chief physicians, 5 attending physicians, 3 residents, 9 physicians with doctoral degrees, and 4 physicians with master's degrees. The department has a reasonable staff structure and is well-equipped at all levels, and is a unit, professional nephrology team.

　　Clinical Work

　　The department's clinical work is divided into three parts: outpatient clinic, ward, and blood purification center. We can treat all kinds of kidney diseases, including primary and secondary glomerular diseases, such as IgA nephropathy, membranous nephropathy, focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, diabetic nephropathy, hypertensive kidney damage, lupus nephritis, ANCA-associated glomerulonephritis; tubulointerstitial disease; urinary tract infection; acute kidney injury; chronic renal failure. etc. Currently, the department carries out B-ultrasound-guided renal puncture biopsy. The center can perform non- and tunneled cuffed dialysis catheter implantation, autogenous arteriovenous fistula, arteriovenous graft for hemodialysis and catherization for peritoneal dialysis independently. The hemodialysis center is equipped with the relatively latest water processing machine, more than 80 sets of hemodialysis machine and continuous renal replacement therapy machine. We can perform conventional hemodialysis and hemodialysis filtration, hemofiltration, hemoperfusion, adjustable sodium dialysis, continuous dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy, immunoadsorption, and other hemodialysis treatments. The hemodialysis center of the department manages patients carefully, accurately evaluates patients' capacity through bioelectrical impedance technology and blood volume monitoring technology, regularly monitors patients' indexes and makes corresponding adjustments in time, especially formulating individualized dialysis plans for different patients, and devotes itself to improving patients' quality of life while saving their lives and promoting the rates of patients' returning to society.

Scientific Research

Under the leadership of Director Yilun Zhou，we conducted basic research of diabetes nephropathy and explored the genetic mechanisms of diabetes kidney disease. We collaborated with the National Clinical Neurology Center to carry out research on the clinical epidemiology, treatment strategy selection, and clinical prognosis of CKD complicated with cerebrovascular disease. A series of studies were also conducted on the clinical prognosis of chronic renal failure combined with insulin resistance, multiple arterial stenosis, and immune adsorption therapy for neuroimmune diseases. We have won one National Natural Science Foundation Youth Project and published over 40 papers, of which more than 20 were incorporated by SCI.
